  • The R rate was revised to between 0.7-1.0.
  • More testing for residents and staff in care homes.
  • 133,784 tests yesterday.
  • 236,711 positive tests, an increase of 3,560 from yesterday.  33,998 deaths, an increase of 384 from yesterday.

Stay alert
We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert. This means you must:

  • Stay at home as much as possible
  • Work from home if you can
  • Limit contact with other people
  • Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • Wash your hands regularly

Self-isolate if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

Actions for early years and childcare providers during the coronavirus outbreak – Updated guidance including adding a new section clarifying the position on welcoming back all children to early years settings from 1 June, information on when childminders can reopen to more children, and what provision they can currently provide, information on testing for essential workers, and information for parents on temporary changes to the 30 hours free early education entitlements. 5:28pm, 15 May 2020
