Teacher Pay Awards Confirmed for 2026 and 2027

Ben Spence

The Department for Education has confirmed that the Education Secretary has accepted in full the recommendations of the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) regarding teacher pay for the next two years.

The confirmed pay awards are:

  • 3.5% from 1 September 2026
  • 3.0% from 1 September 2027

The DfE have confirmed schools will be expected to fund the first 1% of each annual pay award from their existing budgets through efficiency savings and value-for-money measures.

The Government has also announced tighter controls on academy trust executive pay. From September 2026, trusts will be required to seek Government approval before advertising executive posts with salaries above £174,000. Executive pay increases will also be expected to remain in line with those awarded to the wider school workforce.
