Main points from today
- Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, led the briefing today.
- He announced that the Government has created a £1 billion covid catch up fund to help children catch up with learning. Schools will be able to decide how to use this at a local level. £650 million universal catch up premium and £350 million tutoring programme.
- He confirmed that PM’s statement today, that all children will return to school full time in September.
- Further information will be published in the coming weeks to allow schools to plan for the return in September.
- 7 day rolling average daily deaths at 140, down from a peak of 943 as at 14th April. 42,461 deaths, an increase of 173 from yesterday.
